Paul’s Farewell as Junior Organiser

Paul Penney has organised his last Monday night Junior competition. Due to other commitments within the club, he is no longer able to fulfill his role as Junior Organiser. From the whole junior section we would like to thank Paul for all the hard work and support he gave to us, for being there at every junior match and being able to celebrate with us or commiserate.
Thankyou Paul and good luck next year.

Sam Captures Captain’s Prize

Sam Short won the Captain’s Prize for the juniors on Sunday. A great round of 37 points which included a 3 for 4 points and a putt for a 2 for 5 points. I had the pleasure of playing with Sam that day and watched him consistantly score well, and thourghly deserved to win. I also had the pleasure of playing with Sean Hall, who came second after a blistering back nine of 22 points, to finish on 35 points.
Again the course was in lovely condition for a great competition, thank you to the ground staff who did another great job.

Harrison wins Williamson Trophy

Harrison Peck won the 2012 Junior Major with a great round of 39 points off a decreased handicap of 7, Finley Caulder came second with a good level par round of 36 points. However with the course looking in really good condition despite the awful weather lately, Harrison, with his new Nike irons, played a great round worthy of winning any competition. Credit to the ground staff for the way the course is looking at the moment.

Junior Captain’s Welcome Note

During this coming year, I am looking forward to working closely with Paul and Carl, to ensure our Monday night junior roll ups are more competitive and enjoyable, with a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

On a personal note, I am looking forward to improving my own golf, as well as going out on a Monday night with the younger players, showing them how to play the game with the correct manner and etiquette.
As junior captain, my role will be to deal with any problems that the players may come across on the course as well as ensuring players play by the rules,  repairing pitch marks, replacing divots and avoiding slow play where possible.

This year, the junior team will be competing in a number of fixtures which will be shown here. On Monday night roll ups, I, Paul and Carl will be monitoring players who impress and give them opportunities to join the junior team. Although our junior team is strong at the moment, there will be spaces when players leave, so competition is tight.
I hope that our form in these fixtures will be consistent, that we play to win and bring home trophies.
